Rice proposes required ‘healthy meal’ possibilities for little ones at restaurants

County Council Member Craig Rice is proposing a “healthy meal” mandate for eating places, forcing menus to have at minimum just one nutritious decision for small children.

Rice reported he is ready to function with the Cafe Association of Maryland and other partners to amend the laws, probably by lessening the range of demands.

County Council President Gabe Albornoz and Council Associates Will Jawando, Nancy Navarro and Tom Hucker are co-sponsors. A community hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
